12 August 2025, Tuesday – The Task Force Committee on Training and Competency Management for Scheme C under the University Laboratory Management Division (BPMU), UPM, organized the Microscope Self-Maintenance Workshop on 12 August 2025. As we know, microscopes are widely used at UPM for both teaching and research purposes. Due to their extensive usage, the purpose of this workshop was to help laboratory staff learn self-maintenance techniques for microscopes, reduce repair and external maintenance costs, and apply this knowledge in their daily tasks. This one-day workshop was held at the Agro Teaching Laboratory B, Department of Crop Science, Block D, Faculty of Agriculture. The workshop began with welcoming remarks by the Chairman of the Scheme C Training and Competency Task Force Committee, Mr. Mohamad Ismail Baharom. This was followed by a brief introduction to microscopes delivered by the speaker, Mr. Rafiuz Zaman Haroun. The workshop then continued with a basic microscope maintenance session conducted by Mr. Rafiuz Zaman Haroun, assisted by the facilitator, Mr. Saipuzaman Ali, until the session concluded at 4:30 PM. Approximately 52 participants, comprising Science Officers and Assistant Science Officers, took part in this workshop.
